Adlumin Ranks Among Fastest-Growing Companies in North America on the 2023 Deloitte Technology Fast 500™

Security Operations Platform and Managed Detection and Response Provider Achieves 808% Revenue Growth Making Sophisticated Cybersecurity Attainable to Mid-Market Organizations

WASHINGTON – November 8, 2023Adlumin, the security operations platform and managed detection and response (MDR) provider keeping mid-market organizations secure, today announced it ranked No. 178 on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, fintech, and energy tech companies in North America, now in its 29th year. Adlumin grew 808% during the evaluated three-year period, from 2019 to 2022.

“Improving cybersecurity to guard against increasingly sophisticated and persistent attackers has become imperative for every organization, regardless of size. Hackers are not just targeting big businesses or the government, and are putting midsized organizations – who don’t have the same resources to devote to cybersecurity – in a very difficult spot,” said Robert Johnston, CEO and co-founder of Adlumin. “Our tremendous growth is a testament to Adlumin’s ability to make sophisticated, enterprise-grade cybersecurity attainable to organizations that didn’t have the resources to achieve it before. We’re working hard alongside channel partners across the country, and expanding with partners across the world, to ensure every organization has the tools and support they need to stay secure.”

To continue accelerating its growth, Adlumin recently closed $70 million in series B funding. The company was also recognized as one of America’s fastest-growing private companies by Inc. Magazine, and earned a spot on The Information’s 50 Most Promising Startups list for 2023.

“Each year we look forward to reviewing the progress and innovations of our Technology Fast 500 winners. This year is especially celebratory as we expand the number of winners to better represent just how many companies are developing new ideas to progress our society and the world, especially during a slow economy,” said Paul Silverglate, vice chair, Deloitte LLP and U.S. technology sector leader. “While software and services and life sciences continue to dominate the top 10, we are encouraged to see other categories making their mark. Congratulations to all the winners who show us how creativity, hard work and perseverance can lead to success.”

“As for growing companies, it’s always rewarding to be recognized for the ongoing commitment it takes to navigate obstacles, transform when necessary and ultimately create a thriving business,” said Christie Simons, partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP and industry leader for technology, media and telecommunications within Deloitte’s audit and assurance practice. “Over the nearly 30 years we’ve been compiling the Technology Fast 500, we’ve seen new categories emerge, growth rates explode, and certain regional markets shine from the bright talent they attract. We are proud of all the winners for achieving this well-deserved honor.”

Overall, the 2023 Technology Fast 500 companies achieved revenue growth ranging from 201% to 222,189% over the three-year time frame from 2019 to 2022, with an average growth rate of 1,934% and a median growth rate of 497%.

Adlumin Closes $70M Series B, Fueling its Mission of Bringing Enterprise-Grade Security to Mid-Market Organizations

SYN Ventures Leads Investment in the Security Operations Platform and Managed Detection and Response Provider Making Sophisticated Security Attainable

WASHINGTON – October 24, 2023Adlumin, the security operations platform and managed detection and response (MDR) provider keeping mid-market organizations secure, today announced that it closed $70 million in Series B funding led by SYN Ventures, with participation from First In Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners and BankTech Ventures. This investment brings the company’s total raised since inception to $83 million.

The funding will accelerate Adlumin’s growth and meet demand for the vast number of small and mid-market organizations that need an enterprise-grade solution with simplified pricing to defend against the same threats targeting the world’s largest businesses and government organizations. Adlumin’s proven ability to meet this demand through its modern platform, expert services, and channel-first approach has propelled the company to rank among the top 10% of America’s fastest-growing private companies and earn a spot on The Information’s 50 Most Promising Startups list for 2023.

“Organizations like law firms, banks, financial services firms, schools, manufacturers, and healthcare providers are the engines for economic and job growth and the backbone of the economy. But going beyond basic cybersecurity at these organizations has been generally overlooked or sadly out of reach. Adlumin is leading the charge to change that,” said Jay Leek, managing partner at SYN Ventures. “With an extremely healthy and fast-growing business that’s meeting the needs of the middle market, this financing will help put Adlumin on an even steeper growth trajectory.”

In the U.S. alone, 200,000 middle market businesses employ approximately 48 million people and represent one-third of the private sector GDP, according to The National Center for the Middle Market. The data these organizations must protect is just as sensitive, and the threats they face are just as severe as their larger counterparts. Still, they have not had access to the same cybersecurity skills or resources.

Verizon’s 2023 Data Breach Investigation Report points out that companies of all sizes now use similar services and infrastructure, so their attack surfaces share more in common than ever before. As the report notes: “This has led to a convergence of attack profiles regardless of the size of the organization. However, what is very different is the ability of organizations to respond to threats due to the number of resources they can deploy in the event that they are attacked.”

One License, One Platform: Empowering Organizations and Trusted Service Providers

Adlumin’s patented security operations platform provides organizations everything they need for sophisticated, enterprise-grade security. This includes SIEM, vulnerability scanning, threat intelligence, UEBA threat hunting, honeypots, automated incident response and forensics, darknet exposure monitoring, compliance reporting and monitoring, and much more – through one license and one platform. As a modern, cloud-based, and flexible platform built to be the command center for security operations, Adlumin is pre-integrated with solutions that augment its capabilities and can be easily integrated with others. This comprehensive approach makes cybersecurity simple and cost effective for mid-market organizations that have been mired by the sprawl of different point solutions.

“For anyone charged with protecting sensitive data, seeing an uptick in new data breaches in the news every day will definitely keep you up at night,” said Ryan Blake, VP, Director of Information Technology at Blue Ridge Bank. “It’s become increasingly clear that hackers don’t discriminate, so we needed a better security solution than what was previously available. Working with Adlumin has given us peace of mind like we’ve never had before because we know we’re supported by a team and technology platform with capabilities that are on par with any big business.”

To address the challenges organizations face staffing their cybersecurity teams with qualified professionals, the Adlumin platform is specifically built to enhance collaboration with service providers who can deliver the type of expert support that is difficult for organizations to hire and retain on their own. Adlumin offers its own managed detection and response (MDR) services that provide customers with 24×7 human insights, threat hunting and trusted support. Adlumin also works closely with managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs) who use its platform to serve their customers.

Regardless of who operates the platform, Adlumin delivers end-user organizations unmatched visibility into their security posture. Customers always have complete, real-time access to the Adlumin platform regardless of whether they are running it themselves or others are running it for them. This means they can see why an alert was identified and closed, can access investigation data, receive reporting and threat intelligence, generate compliance reports on-demand in a single click, and much more.

“With a significant cybersecurity skills gap, hiring the right people is an expensive, challenging and sometimes impossible task for small and mid-sized organizations who are competing with big government and businesses for talent. This is why empowering service providers – whose expertise can be multiplied across several organizations – will be essential to securing mid-market organizations, and why we built a platform that does exactly that,” said Robert Johnston, founder and CEO of Adlumin. “With this funding, we’ll continue expanding and strengthening our channel partnerships that are so critical to scaling and reaching the mid-market, and will always be innovating to better address our partners’ and end users’ evolving needs.”

Most recently, new solutions Adlumin unveiled to address the security needs of middle-market organizations include a unique, subscription-based incident response service, and new financial protections including a no-cost warranty and discounted cyber insurance policies.

Aqua Security Becomes First Partner to Deliver Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) to Adlumin Customers

Adlumin’s enterprise-grade security operations platform now offers customers a more comprehensive approach to cloud native security — from code to cloud and back.

Aqua Security, the pioneer in cloud native security and Adlumin have announced a partnership and integration. As the first cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP) partner available to Adlumin customers, Aqua delivers a comprehensive approach to accelerate innovation and protect the entire development lifecycle from code to cloud and back.

“As organizations of all sizes transition more of their business to the cloud, data stored in the cloud is becoming a gold mine for hackers,” said Robert Johnston, founder and CEO of Adlumin. “With growing cloud estates, many small and mid-sized organizations simply do not have the expertise or resources to effectively protect them. This partnership between Adlumin and Aqua Security streamlines cloud security, making it a seamless part of security operations for enterprises of any size.”

Adlumin’s patented, cloud-native Security Operations Platform is feature-rich enough for organizations of any size to operate on their own, yet built specifically to amplify the skills and capabilities of managed service providers. In addition, Adlumin’s MDR services can offer 24×7 human insights, threat hunting and support, while ensuring the highest level of security across complex cloud native environments, to complement an MSP and/or organization’s security team, or provide fully-managed security operations on their behalf.

“Collaborating with respected, high-growth security companies like Adlumin, creates straightforward pathways for customers to seamlessly consume complementary technologies, resulting in a holistic approach to cloud security,” said Jeannette Lee Heung, Senior director of global channel and alliances at Aqua. “Through this partnership, Adlumin customers can more easily procure, deploy and benefit from Aqua’s unified CNAPP, and confidently handle the unique security challenges associated with modern cloud-native applications.”

Adlumin integrates with products and services organizations to help them streamline security and give them the visibility they need to quickly detect and respond to security threats. Lightstream, a fully integrated cloud, security, and network connectivity services business specializing in building and managing secure cloud environments and network solutions, is a joint partner that helps streamline cloud security with Aqua via Adlumin’s Platform.

“Embracing ‘shift left’ methodology, we are able to proactively identify and shield against security threats across the development lifecycle with Aqua, from dev to cloud and back,” said Joe Vadakkan, chief revenue officer at Lightstream. “Typically with a CNAPP, interoperability among systems and developers demands advanced security skills or a security team with enhanced development experience in order to get the most out of the solution. To address this complexity, cloud security services organizations like Lightstream help to establish a robust foundation within the customer’s environment with their DevSecOps experts. This foundation enables full adoption of the Aqua Platform, and seamlessly integrates with development tools and security solutions like Adlumin for runtime.”
