Panel 3: Ransomware – Defending Against a Persistent Threat
Session Time: 3:25 PM – 4:10 PM CDT

“Pay Up, or Else.” The number of organizations facing this scenario has been steadily increasing over the past several years as ransomware attacks continue to rise — both in numbers and the size of payouts.

The clear and present danger of a ransomware attack looms large among cyber executives and business leaders as the number of vulnerabilities increases daily. According to a 2022 CRA Business Intelligence survey, nearly one in four respondents reported that their organization experienced one or more ransomware attacks in the past 12 months, and almost one out of three of these organizations said the attacker succeeded in gaining access to their systems, encrypting files, and demanding a ransom.

According to this survey, many believe that the worst is yet to come and that they are at a significantly higher risk of a cyberattack than ever before – it’s not a matter of “if,” but “when.”

Preparing for the inevitable and defending against the threat of a ransomware attack requires constant evaluation and assessment and then making the necessary adjustments.

On this panel, our lineup of industry experts will discuss the key security measures enterprises must take, going beyond backup and recovery and anti-malware/anti-virus solutions to include endpoint security, vulnerability management, Active Directory monitoring, credential protection, DNS security tools, SIEM, DLP and encryption, and cloud security software.

The Cyber Rosetta Stone: Translating the Ones and Zeroes of Threats to the Dollars and Cents of Risk

Cybersecurity is not an IT problem to solve—it’s a business risk to manage. Cyberattacks continue to plague organizations because many business leaders don’t think their company is a target and don’t understand the risk. While boards and C-level executives are more cyber-aware, the majority get their savvy from morning news alerts and have as much depth of understanding as can be crammed into a headline. This leaves security leaders struggling to explain complex topics to non-technical practitioners to provide a fundamental understanding of cyber risk. Debunking the cyber misconceptions that plague most businesses:

  • Framing conversations and reporting as risks rather than threats
  • TPs of communicating to the board
  • Defining objectives, priorities and allocating resources
  • Reporting that demonstrates value, not action

Don't Get Cyber Snagged: Recognizing and Reporting Suspicious Activity

Event details:

Thursday, October 20, 2022
On-Demand Webinar

Presenters:

Mark Sangster, Chief of Strategy at Adlumin
Kevin O’Connor, Director of Threat Research at Adlumin

About this talk:

Sophisticated criminals and state-sponsored actors rely on various phishing techniques to harvest sensitive data, steal credentials or deploy malware. Sophisticated cyber campaigns use previously stolen insider information and credentials to create legitimate-looking requests that appear to come from industry colleagues.

Watch industry expert and author Mark Sangster and Director of Threat Research Kevin O’Connor as they review emerging threats and attack techniques, unpack the latest exploitations, and discuss growing trends in the threat landscape.

What you will learn:

  • The latest phishing trends and tactics
  • How to identify suspicious activity and report it
  • How to build defenses to protect your employees in their office and home environments

The ability to detect cyber threats quickly, to have proactive security measures, and detect new, malicious threats, is more critical than ever.

In this month’s episode of ‘The (Security) Balancing Act,’ we ask, “Is AI the answer to the evolution of the threatscape?”

Watch on-demand as we discuss the following:

  • Use cases for AI in cyber – where does it fit?
  • Can AI replace cyber analysts?
  • What is the importance of resilient AI?
  • What do we mean by predictive intelligence and why is it important?
  • How can you implement AI into your security?

Wednesday, June 22, 2022
On-Demand Webinar

Presenters:

Mark Sangster, Chief of Strategy at Adlumin
Kevin O’Connor, Director of Threat Research at Adlumin
