‘Double Extortion’ Ransomware Attacks Spike

Cybercriminals are turning up the heat when it comes to ransomware attacks. One in particular is “Double Extortion,” which emerged in 2019 but has since been adopted by various cybercriminals. This style of attack reveals that ransomware operators threaten to expose compromised data on the dark web in victims do not meet the demands.
More ransomware operators are setting up pages where they threaten to publish compromised data from victims – an added pressure for victims to pay the ransom.
